[Johannesburg, 27 January 2005] - Arkateq has developed a product that continuously
tests the internal network for security vulnerabilities and holes. It then provides
a report showing what vulnerabilities exist and how to plug them.
"Most people are under the impression that hackers mostly use the Internet to break
into companies. This is untrue. Almost 70% of all hacks take place from within the
company's own LAN," states Thomas Muller, MD of Arkateq.
"Most companies have adequate firewall protection but very few companies do
penetration testing and monitoring from within their own network," continuous
Muller.
"Gartner states: 'It is important for enterprises to determine the methods by
which their work can be disrupted. Then they must prepare themselves with technology
that can defend them against each form of disruption.' Our product is one of those
tools that helps you prepare.
"A business today cannot afford to be reactive anymore, it is just too costly. A
business today has to be proactive and stay one step ahead of the bad guys. The
Arkateq Snitch gives you that advantage," concludes Muller.
