Kovac splits -                                                                2003/03/15 [Johannesburg, 15 March 2003] - Kovac (Pty) Ltd has split into two separate companies, namely Arkateq (Pty) Ltd and Kovac (Pty) Ltd. Kovac, which was started in 1994 by Anton Keyter, had been operating in the weather systems environment for nearly a decade before the split occurred. The two companies now focus on totally different market segments, each with its own client base. Kovac will focus on weather data systems and Arkateq on Open Source and IT security solutions. "The South African market is now ready for the cost saving transision to Open Source" explained Thomas Muller, managing director of Arkateq. "Our business grew to a point where we had to decide which direction to focus on. It was such a difficult choice that the only logical step was to pursue both avenues but as separate entities" added Muller. Arkateq consist of a dynamic young team of Open Source developers and security experts who have proven themselves in the field by providing innovative and cost effective solutions to a wide range of customers.
