[Johannesburg, 5 March 2004] - "As previously stated, Arkateq (Pty) Ltd has a strong
commitment to Linux and open source. We have now launched Linux training as we see
this as the next strategic step along the Linux path," states Andre Coetzee,
Operations Director at Arkateq.
"Our customers will have the assurance that they are receiving international
accredited courses from an approved SUSE Linux business partner. The courses are
aimed at people wanting to learn about Linux as well as professionals who want to
validate their current skills," adds Coetzee.
"Arkateq has positioned itself to supply the growing need for Linux knowledge and is
ideally situated between Pretoria and Johannesburg," commented Thomas Muller, MD of Arkateq.
"We believe that by supplying internationally recognised courses, we are also
strengthening the marketability of the customers attending," continues Muller.
Arkateq is a company committed to open source and specifically the benefits involved in
implementing Linux solutions correctly. It has assisted numerous businesses, big and
small, in implementing cost-effective Linux solutions. One of the main benefits of
Linux is its security features as well as the fact that it is immune to the current
virus threats.
"Implementing a Linux solution correctly in a business has huge benefits and proven
return on investment," states Muller. "This also generates a hunger to know more about
the solution and hence the need for quality training."
Arkateq has committed itself to its customers which include the Computer Society of South
Africa, Department of Defence, CSIR and ERA Properties, to name a few. This commitment
involves supplying solutions as well as knowledge and with the start of monthly training
sessions, has now been formalised.
